Source policy
How sources are selected, recorded and used in our articles.
We prefer the closest reliable source to the fact being checked. For equipment, that normally means the UK manufacturer page, manual, support material or warranty terms for the exact model. For electrical safety, food hygiene, water and health, it means the relevant regulator or public body.
Product information
Names that look almost identical can describe different voltages, included accessories or regional variants. We therefore record exact model identifiers when they are available and avoid carrying US specifications into a UK guide. Retailer pages can help confirm current availability, but do not overrule the manufacturer on technical details.
We do not use an affiliate feed as the sole source for a recommendation. Prices and stock move quickly, so they are treated as time-sensitive and rechecked before publication.
Manufacturer and owner evidence
Manufacturer claims are attributed and checked against the exact model. Owner discussions may highlight questions worth investigating, but anonymous comments, star ratings and review counts are not reproduced as proof.
Updates and corrections
Sources are recorded with their access date, and important claims are checked again when a page receives a substantive update. If you spot a specification that has changed, send the exact page and source through our contact form.
