Choose it when: you have a compatible BRITA jug and want to reduce scale exposure across several brewers. Skip it when: your machine's manual specifies a different in-tank filter or forbids the water treatment you propose. Follow BRITA's cartridge preparation and change interval; stale cartridges and unwashed jugs undermine a tidy routine. The six-pack Amazon listing is for cartridges, not a jug.
BRITA MAXTRA PRO Pure Performance: for an existing everyday jug
Pure Performance is the less scale-specialised MAXTRA PRO option. It makes sense when your household already uses a BRITA jug mainly for drinking-water taste and the local hardness is not your dominant concern. Do not buy it thinking the two cartridges are chemically identical or that either guarantees scale-free equipment.

De’Longhi DLSC002: for a named compatible machine
De’Longhi describes DLSC002 as an in-tank water filter that can reduce limescale formation and recommends replacement within its stated interval. That does not mean every De’Longhi machine accepts it. Match your exact model number, manual illustration and tank connection first. A Dedica-style pump machine and an ECAM automatic machine cannot be assumed to share a filter housing.
Choose it when: the machine's current documentation names DLSC002. Skip it when: a cartridge merely “looks similar” or the machine has no specified filter. Set or reset the machine's filter option as instructed after installation.
Sage ClaroSwiss: batch code matters
Sage's ClaroSwiss page lists supported machines and notes that some older production batches need a compatibility check. Even within a familiar model name, the batch code can matter. Sage specifies a 90-day replacement for optimal results, but your particular machine may also track a filter reminder.
Choose it when: your model and batch are on Sage's current list. Skip it when: you have not checked the original filter or production code. Do not push a cartridge into a tank that resists; confirm the part first.
How to choose without overbuying

- Decide whether you need taste improvement, scale reduction or a manufacturer-required tank filter.
- If using a jug, check cartridge family and keep the jug clean. If using an in-tank filter, match model, batch and part number.
